Truck Blue Book Places Extra $400 Value on Hendrickson AIRTEK®-equipped Trucks
WOODRIDGE, Ill. — Officials of Hendrickson International, Truck Suspensions Systems, announced that Truck Blue Book placed an incremental value of $400 on trucks equipped with Hendrickson AIRTEK, compared to trucks equipped with industry-standard mechanical suspensions.

The 12,000-pound capacity Hendrickson AIRTEK® and STEERTEK combination represent the industry’s first integrated front air suspension and steer axle.

“We are pleased that Truck Blue Book has recognized the value that AIRTEK adds to Class-8 vehicles. The AIRTEK value proposition of superior ride and handling, reduced weight and maintenance, and increased tire life has now been strengthened by including increased resale to provide further benefits to our customers,” said Steve Kiefer, director of marketing and program management at Hendrickson truck suspensions systems.

AIRTEK provides significant improvement in ride and handling, and some fleets claim a substantial increase in steer tire life. The superior design and engineering features deliver broad benefits to drivers, mechanics and fleet owners helping protect drivers from bumps and potholes and providing a premium ride while reducing noise, vibration and harshness.

The axle-section and leaf-spring geometry produce improvements of up to 30 percent in ride and 64 percent in roll stability, in addition to 100 pounds in weight savings, when compared to traditional steel spring suspensions and I-beam axles.

Its premium rubber suspension bushings eliminate lubrication requirements, while the innovative two-piece knuckle design simplifies serviceability.

“The Truck Blue Book Advisory Council has reason to believe the Hendrickson AIRTEK improves driver comfort, ride and handling, reduces maintenance and life-cycle costs, and as of now, will have an incremental value over the mechanical front suspension and I-beam axle,” said Terry Williams, Truck Blue Book managing editor.

AIRTEK is currently available on several Freightliner, Mack, Sterling, Volvo and Western Star models.
