WOODRIDGE, Ill. — Hendrickson officials announced availability of HAULMAAX®, a
lightweight, heavy-duty rear suspension, on International® Truck and Engine
Corporation 5000i and 7000 series vocational trucks.
Steadily increasing market acceptance for HAULMAAX prompted International to
offer this advanced suspension system. With more than 90 years of experience in
the commercial vehicle industry, Hendrickson continues to exceed industry
demands by offering the lightweight, cutting-edge HAULMAAX heavy-duty truck
suspension for vocational truck and tractor applications.
The HAULMAAX suspension represents a state-of-the-art, walking-beam suspension
that allows truck owners and operators to carry hundreds of pounds of additional
payload on each run while maximizing durability with high-strength materials and
advanced manufacturing methods.
“HAULMAAX utilizes an innovative spring geometry that couples natural rubber
with a high-density thermo set material for the preferred ride and handling
characteristics desired in construction, refuse, logging and other heavy-duty
applications,” reports Gerry Remus, vocational marketing manager for Hendrickson
Truck Suspension Systems. “This premium suspension system adjusts to the load,
providing excellent ride quality and loaded stability for driver comfort and
confidence on the job site.”
Unique to HAULMAAX, this new variable rate spring system helps cushion more than
just the driver. It also helps protect the cab, chassis and body equipment from
vibration and harshness, which can extend equipment life while reducing
maintenance costs.
“Lightweight design and superior ride characteristics are certainly key features
of the HAULMAAX system and provide customer value when used on International
trucks, but also key is the maintenance savings that can be realized,” reports
Steve Andrews, general manager of Hendrickson Truck Suspension Systems.
By eliminating the center bushings and providing easy access to all components,
HAULMAAX helps reduce maintenance costs for truck owners. The unique spring
system helps promote long service life and easy accessibility, while the
industry-proven and rugged bar pin axle connection extends bushing life and
provides alignment capability for better tire wear.
Hendrickson helps reduce maintenance costs for truck owners, allowing the
vehicle to remain on the road longer, hauling payload and generating revenue.
Shock absorbers are available to provide enhanced ride improvement in many
applications; outboard mounting improves serviceability. Hendrickson ULTRA ROD™
torque rods come standard on HAULMAAX. These torque rods result in longer
bushing life and additional weight savings.
Proven with extensive laboratory fatigue and vehicle durability testing,
HAULMAAX is designed, tested and approved specifically for the demanding
requirements unique to vocational truck and tractor applications. Through
cooperative development, Hendrickson and International optimized the design of
the suspension and associated cross members.
For demanding off-road and job-site conditions, HAULMAAX offers up to 17 inches
of loaded, diagonal wheel articulation to maintain traction with all drive
wheels.
“HAULMAAX demonstrates our continued leadership in heavy-duty suspension
technology by delivering innovative ride solutions that improve traction, reduce
maintenance costs and, most importantly, can improve profits for our customers,”
added Remus. “The weight savings with a HAULMAAX suspension can result in over
500 pounds of additional payload in comparison to competitive steel spring
suspensions.”
