Monumental Two Millionth Trailer Suspension Rolls Off Hendrickson Assembly Line
CANTON, OHIO – Hendrickson’s two millionth trailer suspension recently rolled off the assembly line at its Clarksville, Tenn., manufacturing plant.

Drawing on a legacy of truck suspension manufacturing, Hendrickson entered the trailer suspension business producing T-model suspensions following the purchase of Turner Suspensions of Canton, Ohio, in 1987.

The milestone suspension system, an INTRAAX® 23,000-pound capacity top-mount, went to Heil Trailer International — ready to add to the more than one trillion miles Hendrickson suspensions rolled up over the years. Heil installed the unit on a Flying J Inc. tanker.

T models, featuring a large TRI-FUNCTIONAL® bushing and a solid, welded axle / beam connection, gave way in 1988 to the refined HT Series that built on the strengths of the T Series while reducing weight and enhancing durability.

Hendrickson developed models of the HT Series to meet the needs of virtually any primary application in the industry and in 1992 introduced the HS slider system that brought the advantages of HT air ride to van and refrigerated van segments.

The industry’s first integrated suspension / axle / brake system, the INTRAAX suspension system launched in 1995 pioneering lightweight, durable designs for haulers in virtually every on-road and off-road trailer primary application.

In 1997, Hendrickson married the landmark INTRAAX system with the patented K-2® slider box to create a full line of VANTRAAX® suspension systems for vans and reefers.

Initially, truckers employed trailer air ride for furniture vans, platforms and specialty trailers. Today, the INTRAAX and VANTRAAX families deliver a breadth of models to meet virtually any heavy-duty hauling requirement — top-mount; low-ride; extreme-duty; single and tandem platform sliders, and top-mount, low-ride and tridem van sliders.
