Frequently Asked Questions - Hendrickson Truck Suspensions
Q: Why does Hendrickson offer so many vocational suspension models?
A: Hendrickson understands that application requirements and performance preferences are different for every operator based upon vocation, fleet size, operating conditions, geographic location, and other factors. Using six suspension attributes, Hendrickson produces suspensions tailored to operators' specific needs.

Q: Whom should I contact to find out whether a particular suspension is approved for my application?
A: Consult your truck dealer, or contact Technical Assistance.

Q: How does Hendrickson determine site travel ratings?
A: Hendrickson site travel ratings are consistent with published axle manufacturer limitations. It is unnecessary to publish ratings which exceed that of axle site travel ratings. Axle and suspension site travel ratings should not be exceeded.

Q: What is the purpose of transverse rods, and when are they required?
A: Heavy-duty transverse rods provide lateral support for Hendrickson vocational suspensions, by transmitting lateral loads directly into the frame instead of through the suspension. This keeps the axle centered laterally and controls axle walkout during cornering. Furthermore, the design allows for maximum articulation and extended bushing life. Rugged upper longitudinal torque rods help maintain optimum driveline angles by absorbing axle braking and accelerating torque. For transverse rod requirements, refer to Transverse Rod Applications (Lit # SEU-0213 and 59310-004).
