Hendrickson has been designing and manufacturing steel leaf springs for heavy-duty trucks since the 1920s. For seven decades, we have been pushing the boundaries of spring technology, introducing designs that reduce weight while enhancing performance and reliability. Today, Hendrickson supplies nearly half of all flat leaf springs, and three-quarters of all parabolic taper-leaf springs used in heavy- and medium-duty trucks and trailers in North America, as well as supplying advance design taper leaf springs to many of the leading European truck manufacturers.
While other manufacturers looked at heavy-duty springs and saw a commodity, Hendrickson Spring saw unlimited opportunity to innovate. An exclusive technology we call SOFTRIDEŽ has enabled us to manufacture tapered spring leaves that can operate at much higher stress levels than previously possible. As a result, we have produced springs with fewer leaves, less total weight, and increased durability without sacrificing load carrying capacity.
Our engineers work closely with major steel makers to produce a fine grain steel with high tensile strength and exceptional fatigue life. The steel is rolled into leaves using computer-controlled taper rolling mills, then a proprietary heat treat process ensures a fine, uniform grain throughout the spring. Precision-machined solid die tooling controls spring stress distribution and load height. All taper springs are then stress-peened to further improve the fatigue life.
Hendrickson Spring, with headquarters in Stratford, Ontario, Canada, supports the largest laboratory dedicated to spring research and development on the continent. Recent partnerships and acquisitions have made Hendrickson Spring a supplier in many of the world's truck markets.
