The Truck Systems Group facility in Kendallville, IN has been recommended for ISO 14001:2004 certification. ISO 14001 is a voluntary international standard that establishes the requirements for an environmental management system (EMS). The objective of the standard is for an organization to establish an EMS that is integrated with the overall business management process.
"With some key customers expecting us to hit the goal of achieving ISO 14001 certification by Dec. 31, 2008, the pressure was on," said Marty Ulrich, Quality Manager and ISO 14001 Team Leader, "but our team in Kendallville came through again. To achieve this goal within a couple of months of attaining VPP is very exciting for our plant."
Kendallville has accomplished many green initiatives this year including:
Reducing their landfill footprint through recycling of wood, pallets, plastic, aluminum cans, rubber scrap and paper
Reducing landfill contamination by recycling batteries from the plant and employees’ homes
Please join me in congratulating Kendallville in the ISO 14001 certification.
